This is my first post on the G.K.A times and I decided to talk about the cost of Power Rangers.

First of all, we all heard the complaints of past producers about the low budget and the lack of resources to execute some plans. Power rangers doesn't really get that much of a budget since they receive %50 percent of the materials alredy from TOEI. besides that.. even if producing it like that doesn't cost at all, there's still tons of costs to cover on.

Sets- Of course Japan wasn't gonna mail their whole city to NZ, so they looked alike. What you have to do? Let's get building! *Cue Bob the builder song* you gotta paint, break, draw, etc. For that you gotta get all the neccesary materials which cost a hella lot. A few hundred bucks or more go into building the sets. Which accumulates to a short time, shorter time equaling expensive costs. there goes a chunk of the budget.

Actors- This isn't a dub, so you can't pay them as voice actors. they are on screen, so they need make up, Utilities, props, etc. Some of the props are from Bandai, but the clothes they wear, the make-up they have to use, haircuts, etc. are paid by Disney. The actors are paid depending on the experience they have, if they don't have much like the Original MMPR then hardly anything goes to their pockets, but preparing them for their roles in term of clothing and other stuff costs quite a bit. there goes another chunk and I can imagine in SPD this part of the budget was unbalanced, since some had way more experience, and some others hardly had any. they din't share an equal resumes.

SFX, ADR, Explosives, editing- These are the parts that take the most money. specially the editing and explosives. as we saw on SPD and MF all those explosives used, required the presence of an explosives expert(I forgot his techincal name) and believe me they can be quite expensive. The editing itself I imagine it takes hours along with the ADR, that's another hella money spent.

Logistics- Yeah you need something to move all those cameras and equipment they use when they are filming in the city outside the studio. You have to pay people that specialice themselves in transporting heavy equipment with care, specially those cameras which cost a lot. With all the hard work of moving all the equipment and people it can get expensive. Another big chunk goes here.

Since this is getting too long for me and for you, i'll leave it here. I hope I was able to help understand that besides Power rangers having an certain advantage to the rest of the tv shows disney has, it's not cheap to produce, and with a low budget is up to the EP money saving skills to preserve the budget and still get away with everything.
